Community Shopping Voucher Program

“Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?” – James 2:15-16

St. Stephen’s has a community shopping voucher assistance program to share the abundance of goods so generously donated to us by the community to help people in need select with dignity the clothing, household goods, and items for enjoyment they need, at no cost to them.

A Voucher covers:

  • Clothing items up to $ 200 value per household member, (limit of 4 people per household)
  • Household items up to $100 value per household (dishes, linens, decor, etc)
  • Christmas Holiday decorations: up to $50 per household (seasonal offer)
  • Other: Media (books, CDs, DVD), games, toys  and jewelry, up to $25 value per household member

For Individuals: Submit your request for a voucher and someone from our staff will follow up with you. Direct requests from individuals without a referral from an pre-approved nonprofit partner will be required to show current need such as a receipt of Public Assistance (PA), SNAP, or NYS Unemployment Benefits to redeem the one-time voucher.

For Organizations: We partner with nonprofits and churches to offer them the option to get bulk in-kind donations to be picked up at the shop and distributed by the partner; and for a partner to be able to request individual shopping vouchers for people in need.

Step 1 – Register your Organization: Community Partner Initial Registration & Bulk Gift In-Kind Donation Request Form (one time)

Step 2) Request a voucher for an Individual/Family your organization works with:  To gift someone a voucher, we ask you to complete a Voucher assistance request: https://bit.ly/ThriftShopVoucher. Our staff will verify each request made with your organization before sending over a personalized voucher.
